English 102 Blogs
Some of you may be familiar with blogs or even have blogs of your own. A blog can be thought of us a sort of online journal where you can share thoughts, ideas, and information with the public on a variety of topics. There are blogs about pretty much anything out there: sports, political groups, organizations, people, etc. For our class you we will have a course blog within Blackboard which will be used as a hub for discussing the course readings as well as the progress of your research.
Each week, as listed on the schedule, you are responsible for posting on our class blog on Blackboard in reply to a prompt I have posted. The prompts will have to do with either the reading or your research project. I will post the prompts the class before the response is due. In addition, you must respond to the required number of classmates as requested in the prompt.
Requirements:
1 Good analysis (see above)
2 At least 1 -2 full paragraphs typed, double-spaced
3 Respond to the number of peers requested in the prompt
Reply with a new thread to the discussion board forum for that day.
How I will Evaluate Your Blogs
I am using something called "spec" grading to evaluate and assign a grade for your work on Blogs. The grade is the result of quantity--or just doing what I'm asking you to do--and to a lesser extent, quality. As explained in the syllabus, your work on your journals/discussions will determine 10% of your final grade.
In order to earn a "B" grade for that 10%
An "acceptable" blog is at least 1 full page. It can't be under.
In order to earn an "A" grade for that 10%
