It seems like you have great questions about his career! It will be interesting to learn about commercial driving and his passion. Maybe a question about his relationship with your best friend Alex would be interesting because I remember you mentioning that you knew most information from her point of view. It would be nice to learn something about her from his point of view!

1.) When did you first get into music/musical background.
2.) What makes a competent musician, be it in a small group, larger orchestra, freelance jobs. session work?
3.) how did you initially start out in your music career? was it hard finding work, how competitive is your field when it comes to more traditional instrumentalists like horn, string, woodwind players, etc.
4.) Do music schools help in guaranteeing a job working in the field of music as a performer?
5.) Do you enjoy your line of work. Taking for instance the movie Whiplash, which of course exaggerates the hardships of being an accomplished musicians to a degree, does the amount of work outweigh the enjoyment of organizing, arranging, performing for numerous ensembles?

Website with some information on the professor I'm hoping to interview:

Perspective of another professional instrumentalist:

I think your questions are really insightful and open-ended and will lead to meaningful conversation. Since most of them are focused mainly on the career aspect, maybe include questions about his personal experiences. For example, you could ask him to talk about one of his first performances, his most memorable performance, or a person he met in the music field that inspired him or impacted him in some way. I found this source that could help you with writing about the career aspect of Spencer's life. It's specifically about classical musicians but I think it has valuable information about the careers of all instrumentalists in general: https://dc.cod.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1445&context=essai

From these questions, I assume you've changed your focus of profiling on your co-workers background and culture instead of the toxic friendship she was in. I would take out the first question and continue to focus more on her background, maybe ask about the major differences in cultures

I see that your questions will add depth and build upon a story, but maybe make them more open ended. Maybe structure #4 like "what are the typical requirements for OT and what did you do to get there?".

I think these questions are questions not a lot of people ask, which makes them interesting. Each questions is different, and will give you, the interviewer, the opportunity to build off of those questions based off of the answers the person you are interviewing gives

I really like how your questions are open ended. To add to this, I would try to focus on their personality throughout the interview as well. I think it would also be interesting to ask what a typical day is like for a guidance counselor. This will give you a better perspective on their daily activities. It is an open ended question that could lead to other topics.

Here is an overview of the daily tasks guidance counselors are asked to complete.

another question to consider is asking about the age group and or setting they are or want to be a guidance counselor in and why they chose that specific focus.

1. What person or thing influenced you the most growing up? Why?
2. Did you always feel like you fit in growing up or did you feel more like you were on the outside looking in?
3. How did you get into your profession as a maintainer?
4. Did you have a different career before becoming a maintainer?
5. Do you feel like what you do is fulfilling in some way?

There isn’t much on the person I am profiling in any written form. So, I plan on interviewing a friend that did radio with him here at school. He's had more recent contact with him and can describe what he's like in the most present. I also plan on interviewing a family friend that attended high school with him to see if he still has the same personality he had all those years ago or to see if he has changed a lot. Possibly a coworker of his if something opens up in their schedule also.

Your questions are really strong, you could potentially ask if there is anything that they are currently writing or working on and if they could let you know anything about it.

I think it's phenomenal you have an interview with The Fred Clark. These are some solid general questions to ask to get some good potentially juicy responses. Especially the last question, as I'm sure we are all interested in knowing what President Clark's most fond college past-time is.

4. Where do you see yourself within the next five years career wise, and how do you plan on reaching that goal?
