Week 1- 
Wed Sept 3  Discuss: Introductions, In Class Writing, Syllabus, Website Navigation


Week 2- 
Mon Sept 8  Read: Shitty First Drafts and  Rhetorical Analysis Handout from Howe Center (In readings on website) Discuss:  Syllabus Questions, reading , One Pagers(in readings on website)   
Wed Sept 10 Due: One Pager #1. Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit) in the One Pager Blackboard forum for today by the beginning of class time.  Read: Malcolm X excerpt (in readings on website) Discuss: Reading, narrative, sensory detail, Essay #1


Week 3-  
Mon Sept 15 Class Cancelled  
Wed Sept 17  Due: One Pager #2. Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit) in the One Pager Blackboard forum for today by the beginning of class time.  Read: Read: Steve Jobs Commencement Address (in readings on website) Discuss:  Reading and sensory detail, Essay 1 work and recap readings 



Week 4- 
Mon Sept 22  Due: Essay #1 for Workshop. (Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit)  Discuss: Introductions and workshop . 
Wed Sept 24 Due: One Pager #3. (choose one of the readings due for today to write about. MUST READ BOTH) Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit) in the One Pager Blackboard forum for today by the beginning of class time. Read:  Liberal Arts Education: Waste of Money or Practical Investment?  (in readings on website) and “Do College Majors Really Matter?” (in readings on website Discuss: Essay #2, reading, How to research the major


Week 5- 
Mon Sept 29  Due: Essay #1 Due (group 1 12:20, group 2 1:00 ) Post essay to essay 1 final group forum by group meeting time. You must be present for your meeting time (with computer) to read your paper to your group and receive a grade)
Wed Oct 1 Due: Essay #1 Due (group 3 12:20, group 4 1:00 ) Post essay to essay 1 final group forum by group meeting time. You must be present for your meeting time (with computer) to read your paper to your group and receive a grade. 


Week 6- 
Mon Oct 6  Read: “Want to know how to ask questions?” (in readings on website) Discuss: Information gathering part II: interview, Interview Work in Class  
Wed Oct 8 Due: One Pager #4. Special topic. Write about who you can interview for your, what you know about them, and questions you can ask them. Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit) in the One Pager Blackboard forum for today by the beginning of class time. Discuss: Occupational Outlook Handbook  


Week 7- 
Mon Oct 13 Indigenous People's Day. No Classes.  
Wed Oct 15  Library Visit (Class will meet in Lib112) Read: Design Principles (in readings on website) Discuss: Integrating Quotes in essays.

Week 8- 
Mon Oct 20 Career Services Visit. Discuss:  flyer design, work on flyers.
Wed Oct 22  Due: Essay #2 for workshop. Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit)  to the Essay #2 workshop forum by the beginning of class time. You must be present in class with your computer and essay posted to receive credit for your draft and to participate in workshop

Week 10- 
Mon Nov 3 Due: One Pager #5 Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit) in the One Pager Blackboard forum for today by the beginning of class time.  Read: Excerpt from Becoming (in readings on website). Discuss: Reading, Essay #3 and audience proposal
Wed Nov 5 Due:  Essay #3 audience proposal. Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit)  to the Essay #3 audience proposal forum by the beginning of class time. Discuss: Small Group research meetings, Drafting goals, Using library sources, researching your future, outlines 

Week 11- 
Mon Nov 10   Due: Small Group Research Meetings- bring sources and notes to share. (Group 1 and 2 @12:20, Group 3 and 4@1:00)
Wed Nov 12 Tuesday schedule of classes. Wed Classes will not meet

Week 12-
Mon Nov 17   Due:  Outline. Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit) in the Essay #3 Outline Blackboard forum for today by the beginning of class time  Discuss: reading, outline to essay, Writing time in class
Wed Nov 19  Due: One Pager #6 Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit) in the Reading Journal Blackboard forum for today by the beginning of class time. Read: “When I grow up I want to Be...Childhood Dream” (in readings on website).  DIscuss: reading and writing time

Week 13- 
Mon Nov 24  Due: Essay #3 for workshop. Post your Google Doc link (set to anyone with link can edit)  to the Essay #3 workshop forum by the beginning of class time. You must be present in class with your computer and essay posted to receive credit for your draft and to participate in workshop. Discus: Citation
Wed Nov 26  Online Assignment in Padlet. 1. FOCUS. Complete at least 2 of the FOCUS surveys on the BSU Career Services site and answer the questions on Padlet.(This counts as attendance for the day. 
Thurs Nov 27-Sun Nov 30 Thanksgiving Break. No Class.

Week 14- 
Mon Dec 1   Due: Essay #3 Due  (group 1 @ 12:20, group 2 @ 1:00) Post essay to essay 3 final group forum by group meeting time. You must be present for your meeting time (with computer) to read your paper to your group and receive a grade. 
Wed Dec 3  Due: Essay #3 Due (group 3 @ 12:20, group 4 @ 1:00) Post essay to essay 3 final group forum by group meeting time. You must be present for your meeting time (with computer) to read your paper to your group and receive a grade. 

Week 15- 
Mon Dec 8 Discuss: Final Portfolios. Final Portfolio Work Day and In Class Conferences 
Wed Dec 10 Discuss: Final Portfolio Work Day and In Class Conferences 

Final  Exam:
Final Portfolios are due on Blackboard by the END of final exam time.  NO PORTFOLIOS WILL BE ACCEPTED LATE. 
Wed Dec 17 Portfolio Due on Blackboard by 1:00pm
